ONE MORE THOUGHT ON GOD’S PROVISION AND FORGIVENESS

Barry Callen writes: “God stands for distributive justice and restorative righteousness—sharing fairly with others and graciously forgiving their debts.

It also is rooted idea that God owns everything, we are merely stewards of the gift, How does this impact not only this half of the prayer, but its initial partner.

See Matthew 18:13ff. How does this impact our understanding of God’s forgiveness.

William Barclay says it this way:
“Forgive us our sins in proportion as we forgive those who sin against us … If we pray this petition with an unhealed breached, an unsettled quarrel in our lives, we are asking God not to forgive us.”
