Week 15 – The Church Responds

Chapter 4: Questions for Reflection and Understanding

Released from their incarceration, Peter and John return to the group of believers who are the infant Church of God, Remember that just before their arrest, Peter’s sermon had resulted in an incredible 5000 more people deciding to follow Jesus.

1. Read chapter 4, verses 21-31.  What have these people been doing while Peterr and John were in the hands of the Jewish authorities? Upon hearing the report, what do the believers do? How would you sum up their prayer in one or two sentences?

2. When they finished praying this powerful, unified prayer, what6 happens to the disciples?

3. Remember the disciples just a few weeks before, particularly fron Maundy Thursday when Jesus was arrested until Easter evening when Jesus appeared to them. What is different about these men? It is this difference that is perhaps the nost powerful evidence of the reality of the Resurrection.

Bibical Joy Bonus:  Go the following ink FRESH FAITH   After reading this article, what is your input as to why people don’t overflow with testimony and God stories?  Do you agree with the suggestion at the conclusion of the article? Do you have further counsel?

  1. I read your blog, and I agree that we often fail to give glory to God for how he works in our lives. Maybe we are just too busy to notice it, perhaps we doubt that it was really a “God moment” worth sharing, or just that we don’t share such personal interactions. This time of sharing God stories during Burn is something I love. I am amazed how our youth can see how God is working in their lives, and they have great stories each and every week.
